Agave deserti
A desert plant native to southern California. It has fleshy green-grey leaves that have sharp spines on the edges. The flower stalk can be as tall as 6 meters.
Spotted in the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument.
Native people ate the flowers and also roasted and ate the "heart" of rosettes that had just begun to send up a flower stalk.
