Melanchroia chephise
This is a medium sized Geometer moth with a wingspan measuring up to 35 mm. As the common name implies, it is basically black with white wing-tips. The legs, base of the antenna as well as the antenna themselves are also black but the rest of the head and the lower parts of the thorax are orange.
This example was found on the bottom side of a leaf alongside a trail in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.
The identity of this moth has plagued me since the day I took the picture 9 years ago. I thought for this year’s Moth Week, I would give it another try and finally found a match. While perhaps not the best moth picture I have, it has been the most irritating :-)

I still get irritated when I can't identify a spotting, so evidently I haven't mastered it yet :-) Thanks Neil.
So happy you finally found an ID for this moth, Tukup. 9 years is a long time to be irritated! Excellent spotting :)
