Bombylius discolor
Dotted bee fly (Bombylius discolor) hovering around star-of-Bethlehem flowers (Ornithogalum sigmoideum) foraging for nectar. Highly distinctive species, with brown spots on the wings and black hairs at the end of the abdomen. Adult bee-flies are considered 'heralds of spring', emerging during the first warm days of March and April.
