Redshank

Tringa totanus

Description:

Redshank is a small wader, about 25 cm in length. In summer, it is brown above and whitish and striped below, easily recognized among other waders thanks to its characteristic orange legs and base of the bill.

Habitat:

Breeds and is often found in wetlands, in particular inland and coastal marshes. Here in saline marches of Suscinio castle in Morbihan bay, Brittany; that day in that marsh we observed only one bird of this species in company of large flocks of ternes and avocettes.
