Big-headed Ant

Pheidole metallescens

Minuscule, shiny black ant that was dwarfed by the nearby Northern Fungus Farming Ant (photo 3), which isn't very big for an ant itself. The mandibles and bottom of the legs were more of a reddish or brown color.
