Yellow-collared Scape Moth

Description:

~2 cm long black moth with orange collar and orange along the leading edge of the forewings and v=bluish-black body.

Habitat:

Found nectaring on common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) alongside gravel driveway in rural open meadow adjacent to a wetland.

Notes:

You can see the tongue curled up under the head.
