Common blue (Ίκαρος)

Polyommatus icarus

Description:

The common blue (Polyommatus icarus) is Greece's (and probably Europe's) most common and most widespread blue, but to me, the pictured one is one the few of the species I have ever seen. In the pictures he seems to be almost transparent, the dots of the underside wings are clearly visible, probably due to the angle and the light. He was spotted foraging in a open space covered with annual wild flowers, by the sea, in Alykes beach, Volos city, Greece.
