This seems more likely. Wild Lettuce; grows in GA

Thanks Nathan - the Scorzonera Austriaca is very lovely, but I don't think it grows here in the southern US. It could very well be a dandelion like you said, just a bit battered. It was raining the day I took the photograph. Thank you again for looking!!!

It very well could be a dandelion; might be a little on the chewed up side and damp. Only other close matches I found were all European and Russian plants (Scorzonera Austriaca). Take a peek at both and see which is closer. I'm leaning more towards the Scorzonera, but the location of the plant doesn't match where you found it.
