Muscovy duck

Cairina moschata

Description:

Mother duck and its ducklings walked around the countryside without going too far from the farm where they live. During midday they rested and occasionally bathed in a nearby pond, during late afternoon they became fully awake and cuaked around. Bird specialists consider them large, males measure about 76 cm in length and weigh up to around 30 kilos; females are smaller than their mates.

Habitat:

Native to México, Central and South America and can be seen in many countries such as United States, Canada and New Zealand as it is a bird that adapts well to different climates.

Notes:

Uruguayan bird guides do not include this type of duck, maybe as they are mainly dometic. I have spotted some in Montevideo already: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/124...
