Hogna radiata
Hogna radiata is a species of wolf spider present in South Europe, and is one of Greece's biggest wolf spiders (Lycosidae family). Males are smaller than females, the body length are respectively 18 mm and 25 mm. This species is wandering, hunting smaller insects & other spider species as well and it is found on grass, parks, and forests. Spotted, caught and photographed in Nea Demetrias, Volos city, Greece.
A friend of mine, caught the spider. He planned to use it for a program in his university, but that would mean the death of the spider. He had it in a jar, and I demanded -in the name of our friendship- to release the poor spider back in the wild! He accepted -of course- and the spider returned in its natural habitat.
