Round Issid Bug

Description:

A small spherical-shaped bug climbing a hostel wall. Its elytra (hardened forewings) are semi transparent so you can see its abdomen underneath. It has a distinct "Y" shaped mark consisting of red and green colors. This bug can be mistaken as a beetle by some people. This species is from the Hemisphaeriini subfamily, probably Hemisphaerius, Gergithus, Gergithoides sp.

Habitat:

Forest plants of Tawau Hills Park, Tawau, Sabah.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy: 10m diameter. Spotted this during a walk alone near our hostel late in the afternoon.

Yes Gilma, that is why I have written in the description that this bug can be mistaken as a beetle.

This one is a Hopper!?...but it really looks like a beetle... : o
