Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

Sphyrapicus varius

Description:

A bird that looks a lot like a woodpecker, but it isn't. Found on a tree in my backyard. The bird was far away, so the picture isn't that great.

Nice job on the scientific name if it is a yellow-bellied sapsucker.

This bird is in fact a woodpecker. It is in the woodpecker family. It is too far away but it could also be a Red-naped Sapsucker or a downy woodpecker.
