Anas platyrhynchos
Iridescent green head with white neck ring and chestnut breast. Upper body mostly mottled gray and black. Lower body light gray
Streams, roadside ditches, and most wetland bodies, urban areas
I have seen many Mallards, including a pair nesting in our neighbors backyard most of last summer in an urban area. This drake flew straight to this tree, easily landed and was undisturbed by my presence as I took it’s picture. I was standing about six feet from the base of the trunk and the duck was making a very soft quacking sounds and did not appear to be uncomfortable.

Nice photos TamLar! It always surprises me to see ducks in trees; it is so odd to see them out of the water.
