Hover Fly

Syrphidae

Description:

Similar at first glance to a local honey bee.

Habitat:

This one is on the north side of a mountain at aprox. 1500ft altitude. Completely surrounded by forest. We have them thick on the Azaleas.

Notes:

With over 6000 species I'm not going to go any deeper than the family name. It is great to know how beneficial they are.
