Thank you kizzay.
It is a fruiting apple tree and is a very sweet tree. It has supported so much wild life. Right from chickadees to humming birds to carpenter bees etc.
The apples are initially green and the later stages golden and yellow. I eat them at all stages. It is almost 30 yrs old. It has developed a lot of problems though/But it is still bearing fruits.

Just lovely! Is it a fruiting apple tree or a (flowering) crabapple? I'm curious what variety grows and blooms there in California. Must be a low-chill variety (like Anna)?
