Rosyside Dace

Clinostomus funduloides

Description:

~60 mm inch long fusiform fish. Whitish belly, golden brown body with very iridescent yellow lateral stripe above reddish-orange stripe, yellow fins, and a forked tail. Colored up for breeding.

Habitat:

Spring fed creek in a large pool, deepest portion was just over 24 inches. Substrate was a gravelly bottom.

Notes:

Fish was caught in a minnow trap, photographed and released unharmed.
