Sukanya, I'm no expert either. I was just following links and trying to track it down. I thought it was unique enough to be able to do that. I was surprised at all the similarities. I'm glad you are checking things out instead of just accepting a suggestion. That's what it is, just a "suggestion."
Thank you, Tukup...but the body shape is more Soritia like than Asota like, but I am no expert...I had almost forgotten about this one...thank you for reminding me... it will be a project for me now. Many thanks once again.

Ignore the heading about the owlet moth. The article is very helpful. Following Asota to wikipedia, they list 55 species. Looking at them one by one, there are 7 found in India. 2 (Asota caricae & A. Tortuosa) can be eliminated because of color but the other 5 are all similar to what you show (Asota canaraica, ficus, plaginota, producta and sericea. So, I’m afraid Asota sp is as close as I can take you.
