Giant Forest Scorpion

Heterometrus spinifer

Description:

It is a large scorpion approximately 10-12 cm with a shiny black body with gray-green reflections. It has large highly developed pincers.

Habitat:

They live in Southeast Asia in moist forests in dark undergrowth under logs or other debris.

Notes:

After spotting this scorpion right outside my front door I decided to test how well scorpions shine under UV light. The second picture shows just how well these scorpions glow under UV light.
