Aspidoscelis tigris tigris
Slim-bodied with a long slender tail, a thin snout, and large symmetrical head plates. Scales on the back are small and granular, and scales on the tail are keeled. The belly is made of large, smooth, rectangular scales in 8 lengthwise rows. The tail can reach up to two times the length of the body.
Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes • Death Valley National Park.
Body shape and pattern are all wrong for Uta. The long, slender body built for speed is indicative of a whiptail. Then there are only 1 in range, so easy to tell species once you know it's a whiptail!
