Varied Thrush

Ixoreus naevius

Description:

Male Varied Thrushes are resplendent orange and black birds about 20 to 26 cm (7.9 to 10 in) in length. Females are colored slightly duller, but with the same general pattern.

Habitat:

Varied Thrushes prefer damp conifer forests, often in higher elevations and is found along the northern coasts of the US and Canada to Alaska. In winter it can often be found at lower altitudes. This one was found at sea level.
