A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Erinus alpinus
This is a perennial, growing in clusters between rocks. It produces pink-purplish five-petalled and densely clustered flowers. The stems are simple, spreading at the base and then erect. The basal leaves form a rosette, while the stem leaves are alternate.
Found covering the ground between naked rocks, on the sun-exposed sides of a walking path, edges of coniferous forest. Found on a mountain pass in Jura mountain range.
