Description:

Intense purple flowers with heart-shaped, toothed leaves. They bloom in spring and last through summer.

Habitat:

Grows on the forest floor in a moderately shaded area. This trail is part of the Appalachian Trail, which crosses through the Delaware Water Gap.

Notes:

Woolly blue violet is a food source for fritillary butterflies.
