Recurvirostra americana
Tall shorebird with long neck and legs. Mostly white with two wide black stripes down the back. Wings are black on back and white underneath with black tips. The long black bill is curved upward near the end and is used to sweep back and forth just under water to catch small invertebrates. During breeding season the head and neck turns grey to reddish.
These were spotted in a canal in the bay.
