Zigzag Fungus Beetle

Erotylus incomparabilis

Description:

These beetles are 20-25 cm long and have a high dome with 5 zigzag stripes across the back/wings/ The first from the head is yellow, then there are 3 red and a final stripe near the tips of the wings that is yellow

Habitat:

They are found throughout our area of the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador. Often found on fallen tree trunks.

Notes:

Also called Pleasing Fungus Beetle, I appropriately named this the Zigzag bug the first time I saw one. Really pretty colors.
