Peregrine Falcon

Falco peregrinus

Description:

Medium sized Falcon with dark head and mustache. Preys from flying high and hitting it's prey from above and knocking it to the ground.

Habitat:

Prefers open areas where it can search for prey. This one was found hunting on a beach.

Notes:

As we approached the beach it took off. Not sure what bird it took. Most likely by the color a Tern. I only saw Terns and Gulls on the beach matching the color.
