Unknown Spotting ( Snail )

Description:

Snail: I went outside, and I saw a small brownish and greenish brown snail, resting on the concrete wall. The color of this snail, was different shades of brown, and different shades of greenish brown. This snail had five whorls on its shell. The first whorl from the bottom of the shell, was different shades of brown. Whorls two through five, was different shades of greenish brown. This snail was five eights of an inch wide, and one half of an inch long. This snail had two lines going partially around the shell, and one line going completely around the shell. The bottom line on the bottom whorl, had small rectangular shapes, and it was a light tan color. It went partially around the shell, and stopped at the aperture lip, and the aperture opening. The middle line, was also on the bottom whorl, and it was a light tan color too. It was made up of large rectangular shapes, going partially around the shell, until it stopped at the aperture lip, and the aperture opening. The top line, was a whitish color, and it went all the way around the shell. This line was on the second whorl from the bottom. This line was made up of small dashes. Aperture: The aperture, is an opening in certain kinds of Mollusc shells: it is the main opening of the shell, where the head-foot part of the body of the animal, emerges for locomotion, feeding, etc. This snail was alive, and able to move. Phylum: Mollusca Class: Gastropoda A land snail, is any of the numerous species of snail, that lives on land. The majority of land snails, are pulmonates - they have a lung and breathe air. Snail: any mollusk of the class Gastropoda, having a spirally coiled shell, and a ventral muscular foot, on which it slowly glides about. In the wild, snails eat a variety of different foods. The diet of most land snails, can include: leaves, stems, soft bark, fruit, vegetables, fungi, and algae.

Habitat:

Some snails are comfortable in the desert, while others live in ditches and cooler climates. These include the mountain areas, and even in marshes. You will find that snails are most active at night, and they come out during the early morning hours as well. Snails don't like to be where it is too hot, but they often find plenty of solace in the shaded areas. Land snails, also live in areas where there are humans around. Land snails, can also be found in gardens. Some types of land snails live underground, and they only come out when it's raining. Look for snails after it rains. Snails often come out when the ground is wet.
