Grallina cyanoleuca
small, like a small type of magpie
backyard
there were two of them
Good spotting. The male is at the front (he has a black throat and white eyebrow), and the female at the rear (she has a white throat). The name 'Magpie-lark' is not necessarily correct, although this is the common name used by many. However, t's neither a magpie nor a lark. I've always known them as Peewee, the common name used in NSW and QLD. In Victoria and WA, it's called a Mudlark. They are native Australian birds.
Nice find. It looks like you have a male and female pair in your spotting!
