The 'laughing' Hyena. The second largest African carnivore after the lion. seen here on the grassland surrounding Lake Nakuru. An adult Spotted Hyena is capable of running down and killing a bull wildebeest.

Savannas, grasslands, woodlands, forest edges, subdeserts and mountains to 13,000 ft
