A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Phyllomimus sp.
Looks like katydid. It is green and veined like leaf - like a bay leaf. Has a tiny but sharp pair of eyes and long antennae. Legs are short and look that of tortoise or tortoise beetle. Does not move much, unlike katydid. Dorsal wing length: 78 mm.
Building surrounded by bamboo, pines, cherry and other mixed forests. Cool to warm place. Altitude: 1,700 m.
This one came flying to the white CFL light sheet in the late evening.

Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
