Description:

I believe this is a female specimen. Color and pattern vary, but most specimens are overwhelmingly black with a trio of white or orange spots on the abdomen as shown.

Habitat:

Spotted by my wife in a rocky riverbed.

Notes:

I am open to correction on the species and/or gender.

I think you are correct with the ID, BugEric. I'm no specialist, but this species is one of my favorite Jumpers. I agree that this looks like a female. (did you see my spotting of a huge female from last year?).

The largest Jumper I have seen or handled to date! I have three other spottings of this species (all slightly different). It is amazing the color variation that they have. It makes me wonder if the "typical audax" is really so typical.
