Description:

Appearance is somewhat variable. Wings are brown - the upperside of the forewing has 2 large yellow-ringed eyespots, and the lowerside of the hindwing has a variable number of small eyespots. Wing span ranges from 1 3/4 - 3 inches.

Habitat:

Along a nature trail in a deciduous forest at Bent of the River Audubon

Nymphalidae, Satyrinae, Satyrini, should be Cercyonis pegala.
