Coral Bean is a gorgeous native plant. The eye-popping colors of the flower spikes really attract attention. BUT... be warned.... the black pods which develop later contain DEADLY bright red "bean" seeds. These remain on the plant for a long time. Even one can kill an adult human. These plants are wonderful in native gardens, but be absolutely certain no children or pets gets to the seeds. Educate educate educate!

And always remember... just because a bird or animal eats something, it does NOT mean human can.
