Hammerhead Worm

Bipalium sp.

Description:

Long, thin invertebrate. Worm-like. Hammer- shaped head. Body could elongate to be about 5 inches in length or constrict to about 3 inches, changing the diameter of its body cavity. Dorsal colouration was reddish brown with dark stripes. Ventral colouration was cream coloured. Hammerhead would undulate to survey it's surroundings.

Habitat:

Found on a large pet carrier.

Notes:

Heavy rains the previous night. Area found was quite muddy and wet. The day was hot and quite humid.
