Witch's Butter

Tremella mesenterica

Description:

Witch's Butter, also known as Yellow Brain, Golden Jelly Fungus, and Yellow Trembler, often appears after heavy rains. Like most jelly fungi, they are edible, although does not have much of a flavor. They are typically used for texture in mushroom mixes and soups.

Habitat:

Found on a little hickory tree, if I remember correctly. It had been raining heavily for days just before this hike.
