Ornamental tree trunk spider

Family: Nephilidae, Genus: Herennia

Description:

A beautiful female Ornamental tree trunk spider resting with its head pointing dowanwards. They are usually very calm and are resting on their big webs which they weave on the barks of fig trees which makes them completely camouflaged. The male is much smaller than the female and is reddish in colour.

Habitat:

Seen at an evergreen forest situated near a river.
