Band-tailed Manakin

Pipra fasciicauda

The Male (pictured) has a brilliant bright orange/red nape, crown and upper breast. Yellow face, lower breast and vent and a yellow patch on the shoulder. Back, wings and tail are black with a white band at the base of the tail and two small white wing vanes, that show in flight. The eye is white.

Found in gallery forest on the banks of Rio Cuiaba on the outskirts of the city.

Although it skulked a bit in the shade when it did get into good light it shone like a beacon!
