They are more closely related to ferns and mosses The leaf-like structure that covers the surface of the ground or container are called thalli (thallus in singular form). Liverworts are not vascular plants, but a more primitive life form similar to mosses. They do not have true leaves like most organisms we consider plants.
Liverwort thrive in low light, high humidity, high nutrition, and moist substrates.

Great shots. I don't know the species, but this is a liverwort. One of the first groups of land plants. Very nice spotting.
