Tyrannus forficatus
They have a light gray belly and head, dark wings, pink sides, and a long, forked tail. These are one of my favorite birds and I'm so glad they are back for the summer!
They are found in open, shrubby country in the south-central US and south through Central America in the winter. This bird was hanging out on a fence in a shrubland area.

Thanks Cammie! I was actually taking a student out in the ornithology class to help her with her independent observations for class, and we stopped for a red-tail on a post on the other side of the road. Then I looked over and saw this gorgeous guy just hanging out, never would have seen it if we hadn't stopped!
In puerto Rico we have a similar bird with a long tail we call it, ¨rabi largo¨, in simple english would be ,long tail bird
Fantastic!!! I haven't managed to get a clear shot of one on our fence lines, only power lines. Lol. This is beautiful!
Thanks
Nice shot Ashley.
Pretty bird!
