Well, no I didn't touch it or prod it with a stick. I've seen molds on this site, but had never seen a mold before. I wouldn't have thought to do that!

Looks like a mold of some sort, the way it seems to be spreading onto the fallen leaves. Maybe a slime mold? I'd have to see it "in person" (hah!) to tell. Did you touch it or prod it with a stick or anything to determine the texture?

Well, it does have a certain strangeness to it I will definitely say. I saw it as gray with a white tinge!
