Peacock (butterfly)

Inachis Io

Description:

This is probably one of the more common butterflies in England but it is still very beautiful to see with its russet red wings and large colourful eye spots which give the buttefly its common name. If disturbed they usually fly up in the air and go straight back to the original flower they were feeding on.

Habitat:

seen in the Don valley area of Sheffield near the river Don on the five weirs walk.
