I believe this might be a semipalmated plover but can anyone confirm this. It was encountered in Florida on 18th April 2013.

No problem. I think this April is still winter, because where it is going has been a cold spring and a long winter. :)

Thanks bee - I was a little uncertain as it is listed in many places (including your link) as being only a winter visitor to Florida. I guess it is either late with its migration or it has decided not to make the trip north this year!
