Fringed Iris

Iris gracilipes

Description:

Flower's petal base have yellow, violet green patterns like a starburst or fireworks of colors. So dainty and pretty. Six petals but only 3 carries the colorful patterns. It is called as "Himeshaga" (ヒメシャガ), In Japanese, when a plant is named Hime (ヒメ), it means small. In this case, the Fringed Iris is named so because it looks like a smaller version of Shaga (シャガ), the Japanese Iris in English, only 30cm and blooms in May and June.

Still it was nice of you to check again my posting and to re-discover a caterpillar bonus shot. Appreciate it.
