Gasteracantha quadrispinosa
This brilliantly coloured small spider ranges in size from 2 to 6mm. The males up to 3mm, and the females up to 6mm. The colouring of the 'shield' can range from red to yellow. Black spines protrude. Toxicity: Unknown; This spider may be too small to be harmful to humans and is not aggressive; its camouflage means it is rarely noticed
Found in Queensland tropical rainforest habitats, small webs in sheltered forest or among leaves on the forest canopy. On green leaves or a small web in rainforest settings but rarely in open forest settings
I was suprised to discover this guy, i never knew spiders could look like this! Spotted in NSW even though sources i've read say found in QLD.
