Northern Saw-whet Owl

Aegolius acadicus

Habitat:

Mixed woodland

Notes:

The Northern Saw-whet Owl is so named for its peculiar call which is reminiscent of a saw being sharpened. Tommy DeBardeleben heard it first and was able to call the bird in. It fluttered silently in the air before us like a moth! It perched in a tree briefly and all of three of us got to see it!
