Long Horned Seed Weevil

Description:

A spectacular little Seed Weevil, about 3 mm in length with giant horned antennae. It likes to stand on leaves and flowers with its antennae straight up. This one is black with tiny white spots on the elytra and large patches of white scales on the sides and underside of the thorax. The hind legs are very long. Family Bruchidae.

Habitat:

Found on small composite flowers, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
