Symphodus tinca
Body elongated and slightly compressed. Thick lips. Highly variable coloration from male to female; these and the juveniles have a uniform brown coloration; the males are very showy, with a large black spot at the origin of the lateral line, two or three horizontal dark bands, the whole body and fins dotted with numerous small red and blue dots, and the head with irregular light blue horizontal lines. Up to 40 cm in length. They live 15 years.
