I saw quite afew of these egg masses left behind in low tide. My guess is that they could be Sea hare eggs.El nino has been very generous with these!

Yes, it is a lugworm cast
So the lugworm is not there, but they created this as they were ingesting then digesting the sand. It's very interesting, you should read up on it :)
