Body length 12mm.
Those beetle adults and larvae feed on Eucalyptus tree leaves. They are beautiful golden brown colour with yellow dots, round convex in shape.
Can I ask if all these images were taken of the same individual... only the colour seems to vary between images. I captured an image of a Paropsis this morning and it was definitely red rather than brown and more inline with your first image. These beetles have an interesting ability to stow their antennae.
We have Eucalyptus trees of several species introduced into California and Mexico - and no accompanying insect fauna. You have such neat creatures that have evolved with those trees.
