Green Anole

Anolis carolinensis

Description:

Adult female. I'm afraid she might have been unhealthy, since her coloration was mottled and she had those black lines behind her eyes. Discoloration is often a sign of malnutrition, but her habitat is teeming with yummy bugs. She was more mellow (lethargic?) than most anoles, because she showed no fear of me and calmly sat on my hand until I put her back on the tree.

Habitat:

Found on the trunk of a big tree, on the quad at Emory.

Notes:

Can anyone tell me why she's colored this way?
