Maybe my comment was not clearly written. If you look at my link you might THINK, that it might be an Agathia sp. and it was just an example to illustrate the similarity of these moth. But again, I am really not sure about and I suggest that you just call it Geometrid Moth. As scientific name you might add "unknown" or empty and I hope that Roy Geoff will see your moth to provide us an ID.
bayucca, Thanks for your comment and trouble searching, but the ref,http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomaswon91...the moth has brown lines this one has strikingly dark gray to black lines, could it be the camera flash that makes the deference.
Geometridae, Geometrinae, Agathia sp.???? http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomaswon91... Actually I can't believe that this would not be an Agathia sp., but I did not find ANY reference for RSA, just nada! But we should never forget that it could be an intruder from India/East Asia to South Africa, that would fit better. I think we had this problem also with one of Johan's moth once. Maybe you or somebody else is more lucky, for me it's too late to search...
